The most direct route to our store is through Entrance 2, near the Ulta Beauty. We're right by the center court in the Golf Mill Mall so any entrance will be fine. But parking there makes it a straight walk. Do be careful with GPS directions which can take you to other parts of the mall!

How do I schedule an appointment to look at pianos?

Give us a quick call, or send a chat/email! We’ll ask you a few questions, and get you in as soon as possible:

1. What’s your name, number and email?
2. Which store would you like to visit and when?
3. What kind of piano are you looking for?

If you have questions about anything, please feel free to ask. If it’s your first time in, do check out our buying guides on our blog!

What pianos do you currently have in your showroom?

We get in new pianos on a weekly basis, and we post them all on our online store for your convenience.

We don’t publish pianos that we don’t stock or that haven’t arrived into our showroom.

So if you see one you think you might like, reach out to set a time to come play it for yourself!

How do I set an appointment to have my piano tuned or serviced?

We currently aren’t able to book these appointments online, but give us a call at (847) 775-1988.

Our automated answering machine will direct you to our sales/service department, where you’ll leave a voicemail for our service manager, Andrew.

He’ll be happy to return your call promptly, address any issues you might be experiencing, and get you on our calendar.

Do you buy or take in used pianos?

We sometimes will buy or accept used pianos as donations. However, it depends on many variables including our current selection, available space and of course the piano itself.

Please send an email to [email protected], so we can evaluate it and get back to you.

In that email, please include:
– 3-6 photos of the piano, from different angles (including the brand name above the keys).
– The serial number – usually 4-7 digits, amongst the tuning pins.
– Any info about the piano you have – how often it’s been tuned, any significant work done, etc.
– What town is the piano in? Any stairs involved?
– Is there a timeline for when this piano needs to be out?

Brendan will get back to you within the week with a decision — or with resources for how you can sell/donate the piano yourself.

Do you offer music lessons?

Family Piano closed its School of Music in 2020. Since then, we have not offered music lessons ourselves.

If you’d like to sign up for music lessons in Waukegan IL, we recommend the Arize Beyond School of Music!

They recently opened at 118 S Genesee St — the same space ours was in before, right next to our Waukegan store.
