We at Family Piano Co are proud and excited to showcase student recitals!
The opportunity to play in front of your peers is something that is often overlooked or unavailable to many teachers. The atmosphere at our recitals is truly heartwarming; we fully understand how encouraging it feels to be supported by an audience of friends and family while showing off all of your hard work.
Are you attending a recital at Family Piano Co? Here are a few tips!
Who We Are
At Family Piano Co., we sell and rent pianos, teach lessons, sell sheet music, guitars, & accessories, and generally work to make the world a happier place. We have a beautiful and sunny space for hosting recitals.
Where We Are
We are located in downtown Waukegan, on Genesee Street, between Washington and Belvidere. We are about 4 blocks south of the Genesee Theatre and part of a larger building called “Harbor Place.” Some recitals are held across the street at Dandelion Gallery, an art gallery with big, beautiful windows.
The easiest way of finding us is via the parking lot behind our building, on County St. We have a very big sign there. All of the signs say “reserved,” but those are for Mon-Sat.
We also have an arrangement for free parking at the lot at Water & Genesee (about 1/2 a block north of us).
All street parking is free on Sundays.
We are happy to offer you FREE coffee to drink during the recital. We also have hot tea and soda available for purchase.
We offer our recital space for private teachers to host their own recitals, as well. If you would like to host your recital with us, please contact Alice. The students perform on our 9’4″ concert grand. You may even host a small reception afterwards for your students.
If you’re looking for some FUN sheet music, we’ve got plenty to browse! We also encourage students to warm up on any available piano before the concert.
Our Genesee Street entrance is wheelchair accessible – there are no stairs from the sidewalk to our space from there. If you have any special needs, feel free to call us at 847-775-1988 to arrange.
