For the first time in decades, the northern Lake County area boasts a showroom full of beautiful new pianos! We provide a completely different piano shopping experience for local families. Customers always talk to the friendly & dedicated owners, who are totally committed to them, their kids, and everyone’s long-term love of music. As piano tuner/technicians with over 35 years of experience between them, Family Piano Co. is unique in many ways.

Being technicians ourselves lowers our overhead, both in customary labor savings and because we are the only store owners in the region who can generate repair income while watching the shop. Thus, buying directly from us will definitely allow our customers to save.

We have a variety of new grand and upright pianos, from our flagship Sauter, Perzina and Hailun lines, to Steinberg, Ebel and Falcone, as well as a variety of refurbished pianos – both starter pianos and fine vintage instruments. We also offer financing options.

Family Piano also offers a variety of tuning, maintenance, rebuilding and refinishing services. Many services can be done at the customer's location, but sometimes either the whole piano or just the insides need to come in to the showroom shop area or nearby workshop. There are many instruments that really need mechanical tune ups or new hammers, for example. There just comes a point when a piano needs more than tuning to be exciting to play again!

The noted pianist Chris White dropped us a note after performing at the Memorial Concert for Mark MacLeao:

Yesterday I had the pleasure of performing on q beautiful 6.1' Perzina grand. Known for its beautiful tone and sound, Perzina pianos enjoy an international reputation. This piano was fun to play and indeed had a gorgeous tone. It is a solid instrument and would use it for another concert.

Speaking of fun to play, we were delighted to get this note from the noted pianist Frank Winkler, who recently performed on our 9' Sauter concert grand at Joplins' Java:

I have performed in most of the major cities of the world, played at the London Palladium, the Tata Theater in Mumbai, the Olympia Theater in Paris, the Orchestra Hall /Symphony Center in Chicago and never performed on such a wonderful piano as your nine foot Sauter Grand Piano. Its voicing and action is literally the cleanest and the best. The warmth of tone carries through all registers. The top register has clarity and warmth, not just power. The bottom register has depth and power, but also clarity! Bravo! And thank you for the privilege of playing this magnificent instrument.

Another noted Chicago area pianist, Fred Engler, recently visited and sent in this note:

Julie and I enjoyed meeting you both this weekend. Thanks so much for giving me the privilege of playing so many wonderful pianos. The Sauter concert grand is unquestionably the finest piano I have ever played. The rebuilt 1904 concert grand and the rebuilt Steinway were also amazing. It sure is fun to discover the individual "personalities" of these great instruments. I must add that I have never seen so many high-quality pianos across such a wide price range. No one can touch your selection.

Gaea Schell, an accomplished jazz pianist from Los Angeles who recently performed at Joplin's, dropped us a note:

As a working jazz pianist, the quality of the pianos I play is very important, and playing the 9 foot Sauter for the first time was a dream. I was very impressed with the vibrant action and warm, open tone! -Gaea Schell

Don Campbell, a happy customer who had some TLC work done on his piano, wrote:

Mark,
When I got home I played my piano and you were right, it was spectacular! When I started to play, both the action and voicing reminded me how the Yamaha was 30 years ago - and I was blown away then! What a great feeling. And hey, real nice job on the vacuum job!

We chose our name, Family Piano Co., because we genuinely want our customers to feel like they are a part of OUR FAMILY! When you come to our store, you will always talk to the OWNERS, who want to earn your trust for many years. There is more ignorance about pianos and their technical aspects, than nearly any subject out there. We ARE the place you can send your family and friends, for honest, accurate "family advice", our friendly prices and no-pressure atmosphere.

Drop in and enjoy Joplin's Java and Ragtime cafe - the freshest locally-roasted coffee, CJ's donuts, free wireless internet, a wonderful view - and just a great place to hang out and enjoy music!

  Thanks for stopping by,
Alice Alviani
